The bronzing is because the ink isn't fully absorbing into the paper. 
It's a shame, too, because Ilford's matte inkjet material has a
beautiful surface, AND is priced really reasonably in large rolls (it's
less than half the price of the Epson stuff for 24" by 100 feet).  I
found that printing with as little ink coverage as possible, prints on
the Ilford material still took a full day to dry (compared to three to
five minutes for most Kodak and Epson materials).
