I understand (from one of the web sites dedicated to the LX) that there was
a shutter upgrade at some point in the LX life cycle. I wouldn't be
surprised if the $216 charge includes the complete shutter mechanism
related to repair and upgrade.

I'm happy with the cost. The camera had been represented on ebay as
functional, but possibly a "parts" body. The ebay listing indicated the
sticky mirror problem as the only major issue, and I presumed that the rest
of the age-related problems that happen to LX's would be present, as well.
I had hoped to get away with that $130 repair, but after shooting a roll
with the body as delivered I find that I really love the way the LX handles
and I would have had it repaired for any reasonable cost. If it had been
too much more, I probably would have just posted the body for sale on ebay
again :-) And then gone back on the hunt for another LX.

The PZ-1 uses a combination of the mode dial and Tv dial to initiate
mid-roll rewind.

Thanks for the feedback.
