A photo of a Pinto covered -- I mean *covered* -- with bird poop. I'd sent it to Car and Driver for their "Reader Sightings" feature that they use to punctuate their letters column. Heard nothing for almost two years. Then a $50 check arrived, which I almost threw away unopened because it looked like one of those fake-check promotional pieces. They would up using it instead in a full-page house ad for their annual "10 Best" contest. I framed it, of course, along with a print of the original. Best, Stephen
