I second that. Even with massive overexposure, it's pretty easy to make
a half-decent print from colour negative. Check the negs...if you hold
them up to a lightbulb and can still make out the bulb behind the
thickest, darkest areas of your negs (the brightest spots on your
prints), they're probably fine.
