I find this kind of weird. Whether or not an item has a reserve has no effect at all on whether I bid or how much. eBay doesn't charge me anything for bidding! I wait until the last moment and bid the maximum I'm willing to pay. If the reserve is higher than my bid I haven't lost a thing. There's no reason a seller shouldn't be able to protect himself/herself from unusually slow eBay traffic (or even local system outages that keep a bidder off line). I just got nailed by such a thing with a K1000 I just sold: It was in near-mint condition with an M-50/2.0 but eBay was very slow and it went to the only bidder for the starting price of $89.00 :( -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
