I don't know much about the newer AF bodies. But I have
succeeded in persuading a friend of mine into Pentax<s>.
He wanted a compact and "full-featured", but not expensive
SLR. (How much more could he want!!) So I recommended a
used Program A. He bought it with an A35-70/4, a decent
consumer standard zoom.
Then he added an M50/1.7, and I sold my A28/2.8. After
that he bought an M150/4, and is planning to buy my tripod.
This shows a very typical enabling activities of a beginner,
and I hope this
