Hi Shel,

Basically, I like the multiple ways this minimal set of objects play off
each other in my thoughts-

I like the ranges of tones, shapes, and sizes of the leaves contrasted
against the largely uniform greyness, texture, and featurelessness of the
concrete.

I like the contrast between the organic and the inorganic-leaves and seeds
vs. the concrete. It makes me think about the messy abundance and variety
offered by nature and the sameness of things manmade. I also like the
insensibility of each to each other.

I like the fragility of the leaves and seeds overlaying the concrete
because it causes me think about the nature of strength. Short term, the
concrete is the strongest, but with time, the succeeding generations of
equally fragile leaves will bury it.

The seeds and leaves make make me think about the stages and cycles of life
and the continual progression of those just starting out on this grand
adventure and those who are at the end.

I could blather on, but I won't. :-)

Anyway, this photo was an experiment for me and I suspect my fondness for
it is largely idiosyncratic. My other candidate was colorful, attractive
and far less risky. But I already know how to take those shots, so this was
still the better choice (as I'd like to know what doesn't work for other
people as well as what does).

Dan Scott (or then again, it may be my medication)
