I'm disappointed that less than half of the PUG commentators have posted
remarks. And I can say this without being selfish because my photo was
commented on in depth by a number of people. I appreciate that. But I
enjoy the discussions of other members photographs and of the debates
about photography in general that the comments provoke. The real meat is
sorely lacking here. We have had extensive discussions of diacritical
typography, dogs, index numbering, the new toys we've purchased, and all
manner of detritus. But we rarely discuss photos or photographic
techniques. The PUG is an excellent source of material that could lead
to the discussion of both. Why are these off-topic things more
important? Is it just that it's easier to discuss nothing than it is to
comment intelligently (or even unintelligently) about a real,
honest-to-god photograph?
