24-60mm is probably what they could acheive while keeping the lens small. It isn't a bad focal length, 35mm equivelent wide angle is pretty useful for most situations. I could see picking one of these up as a replacement for the 28-70/4 for some situtations. Someone still needs to make a 40-160/4 lens to pair up with the 16-45/4 so that only 2 lenses can be carried to cover a wide range of useful focal lengths. alex
