I haven't used either, but basically these are two of the best lenses made period. The better one for walking about and shooting stuff would be the 77 from what I've read. The 85 is pretty big and heavy by comparison and not any better than the 77 at anything except low light shots. Once again this is second hand knowledge, but there is no doubt the 77 limited is on my list of to buy lenses.
