Hello TIA
Working with 500W/250W light bulbs is no fun. It's HOT! The model sertainly
don't have much fun sitting in the tropical heat, smiling relaxed! And it's
an expensive solution, because you'll have to replace the bulbs frequently
(short life time). In a very short time this setup will be as expensive as
a "real" studio flash setup. Of course the bulbs can be replaced with the
kind of bulbs that allso has a flash on board (don't remember the name of
the company who makes these).
I would not consider this outfit unless I already had asignments paying for
it all in a few weeks. And then there's maybe a colour problem - she may
have to use correction filters. I believe 500 USD would buy her a "real",
used studio set-up with two or maybe even three flashes, including two or
more output levels, ambient light for focusing etc. This would be a much
better investment. Try to find a Multiblitz, Courtnay or Henzel - to
mention some reasonable European brands). My favorite would be Visatec from
Bron, Schwiss made, expensive but great stuff.

As an alternative she might consider using various camera flashes. Older
Metz 45's are not expensive and last a maybe a lifetime. Use AC current
units for these, not batteries, and triggering cells.

all the best

Emne: Lighting for ebay sales?

A friend of mine is upgrading her photo setup for ebay sales in response
to higher volume and increased variety of lighting requirements. She
asked me if this was a reasonable deal:

&rd=1>

She doesn't have the space and experience (and money) for a more
elaborate setup, and this seemed like a good deal for her at the buy it
now price. I told her that I normally don't do this type of shoot, so I
don't have any experience with manufacturers, setups, etc. Do any of
you have any experience in this area that could give a quick thumbs
up/down to this offering?

TIA,

rg
