The next installments of DSLR's from Pentax is perhaps the "real" thing developed to sell in quantities.
It is possible considered Pentax used to be slow to upgrade their cameras. K series, (the 1st bayonet K mount system), MX (fully mechanical high end body when everyone was doing electronics), A series (program mode) were all one step behind the competition when they were introduced.
