I never realized how much *I* liked that shot until I saw it on the web site. One of the disadvantages of having to work very quickly is you don't have time to stop and appreciate the results until much later. >The telephoto stacking >plus the great DoF leads me to ask a DI (digital ignoramus) >question: Is being able to play with ISO on a frame-by-frame >basis what helps make a shot like this possible? Pretty much. Being able to use high ISO settings without film grain becoming a problem is wonderful. This shot was taken at ISO 400 (it was a very bright, sunny day) and going up to 800 still yields excellent results. Even ISO 1600, which I didn't need that weekend, would give publishable results. The low noise level is pretty amazing. >Do you remember what lens or combination you used? Sigma EX300/2.8 APO, 1/800th second at f/11, ISO 400. -0.3 exposure compensation. >Looking forward to the posting on your site, I'll have to narrow it down to about 20 of the best shots from the 6-700 I took that weekend... -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
