This is, of course, quite true. And while I'm a strong advocate of film, I gotta ask, how many "big name" photojournalists are there these days. Not many compared to wedding photogs, sports photogs, advertising photogs, and so on. I'd venture to say that becoming a well-known, well-respected, and in-demand photojournalist might be quite a bit more difficult than becoming a wedding snapper, etc.
Still, there's a lot of film being processed here. All the labs in my area are quite busy, and some don't do digital at all. I don't know of any of the larger labs here that have shut down or curtailed operation. Just looking in a photo directory I happen to have on my desk, there are more labs processing and printing conventional B&W than there are that do C41 color. That's surprising ... and nice to know. Shel > an awful lot of big name photojournalists, even young ones, are still using film.
