I used the PS CS integrated RAW convertor which I have found the best for 
various reasons. But you were absolutely correct, I did some experiments and 
found to my surprise that the Pentax convertor didn't make such a mess of the 
same RAW file however I found that if I removed the minimal sharpening that is 
set as default (25 thingies) then the edge artifacts on the orange disappear. 
Strangely it's only at the edges of this colour where the problem can be 
observed, the default sharpening has never given me bad results before, I'll be 
more aware now.
