you didn't read far enough. a month after Samsung's CEO announced that it was impossible to produce an image sensor with less than 0.2 micron feature spacing (not sensor spacing) using current technology, Micron announced sampling quantities of a sensor with 0.17 micron feature spacing using current technology. it was in one of the semiconductor engineering trade papers. the article was on how Samsung was still behind the curve on CMOS image sensor design.
