Could I get a bit of clarification from those of you who use nimh?
- If you shoot 200-600 exposures a week, NiMH make good sense. A good
set of NiMH with 2300mah or better capacity, and a good charger,
should return 400-700 exposures per charge and will usually require
charging once a week, regardless of whether they've been used or not.
for those who recharge every week or so, are you recharging (topping
off) or discharging and then recharging? I'm not sure which to do, so
I compromise by topping off and then once a month, I discharge. Just
in case. (I'm not sure what I'm just-in-casing against, exactly)
NiMH battery technology does not exhibit the "memory" characteristic
of NiCad rechargeables and do not need to be conditioned by driving
them to near total depletion and then recharging. I just pop them in
the charger every Sunday night (or if I have seen the "half charge"
indicator during the day otherwise).
I use the Power2000 cells with their supplied fast charger. Seems to
do a good enough job, and the charger will actually fully recharge a
set of completely exhausted cells in about 90 minutes. The Maha
chargers are more sophisticated and generally should do an even
better job, but this has been good enough for my needs.
