Geez, Rob. You want to continue this asinine slamming of Apple for no
reason whatever? I just don't understand your desire to argue about
this shit at all. Apple monitors are accepted all over the industry,
in every test report, as being amongst the best out there in the
price class. Expensive, yes, not *that* expensive though compared to
the competition.
I don't give a flying fuck about whether Apple as a company is better
or worse than any other company about trying to get as much money out
of your pocket as possible. They're all into that game. I'm simply
reporting that the monitors are very high quality and that I consider
them worth the price.

Godfrey,
Apple does have some pricing issues with their monitors. Especially the
20" which can be had for damned near half the cost from Dell ($599CDN
from Dell, vs $999CDN from Apple here in Ontario during the current
sale, the Dell is normally $749 but I've never seen it retail for that
and 1 day sales have had it as low as $500-ish here in Canada) for the
exact same panel (And since the Apple-provided circuitry is essentially
the plugs and cable, there's little difference in quality and the Dell
offers more features due to a superior stand).
I'm generally an Apple-booster (Posting this from my eMac running
10.4.3) but I couldn't justify the cost of the Apple displays when I can
get the same panel elsewhere for 40% less. And since there's far less
variability between displays with the same LCD panel than there was with
CRT displays sharing a tube, such economy doesn't actually cost you
anything except a potentially cheap cable and enclosure.
