I own this lens in MF, wife has AF.  Comes with a decent 2 element
adapter to take it from 1/2 to lifesize.  The MF feels a little
sturdier, and is slightly less expensive.  I have done a few dozen
closeups (mostly floral), and find the lens a good tool for such
subjects.
However, it has either barrel or pincushion over 1 percent, according
to those who test such things.

It is also a fine portrait lens in my hands.
