It is perhaps true, that more wxposure reduces the noice - I never thought
of that - didn't know. Speaking of which, makes mem remamber, that I made a
flash shot last week - by mistake at 3200 ASA - I had forgotten to reset the
ISO. I was actually surpprised, that the noise wasn't all that bad. Take a
look - these are heavyly croped -the biggest is about 50% of the frame. I
have added a little blur, in order to be kind to the subject ;-) I's
difficult to actially see this is ISO 3200, right:

Overexposing in order to reduce noise, will still require even longer
speeds, thus more ISO!
I will try to do this next time I need a lot of speed. Thanks for the
advice.

But I frequently have to use Neat Image to try to restore photographs made
at ISO 3200.
I would like not to have to.
I still want lower noice from the next generation of Petntax DSLR's - which
was what we were originally discussing.

I use film too - most often for 6x6 shots, but never faster tnan ISO 400.
I did som comcert shots somtime ago. Using Fuji Superia 1600 ASA film -
brilliant film - but still a little noicy, but in fact less noisy than the
PRO Fuji 800:

Shot with MZ-S or Super A using Fuji Superia 1600 ASA.

PS: Thanks for the nice words about my noisy shots...;-)

Jens

I see nothing wrong with these photos that a half-stop more exposure
wouldn't cure. They seem to be slightly flat and underexposed,
exaggerating the noise characteristics. Were they originally captured
in RAW or JPEG format? If RAW format was used, I'd have given them a
+0.7EV compensation correction.
