Pre-announcing details about an upcoming release generally causes
sales of current inventory to decline, as well as giving your
competitors something to market against.

John works for a camera store, and his store deals with Pentax. While
there might not be any legal hold they have over him, the Pentax
representative has some discretionary power to favor or disfavor a
dealer who isn't playing by the rules.

Personally, I find all the rabid debate and speculation about the new
camera ridiculous. I am content to see what Pentax offers when they
announce it and publish the specifications. In the meantime, I have
work to do and I'm happy with my equipment.
