I agree. I didn't check the size of the files in question, but they 
didn't appear overly large on my monitor. I save mine at around 970 
points on the long side, 60 to 70% quality, Save for Web. Size ranges 
from about 130 Kb to as much as 300 for a highly detailed shot.
