You've hit upon one of the things I don't like about the DS and that is noise in the shadows unless you bring the exposure up a bit. I sometimes like to shoot scenes in a very low key manner, and the Pentax - perhaps all DSLR cameras - don't make that easy to do. Perhaps I've not got my digital processing act together.
