Sorry to hear that ...

Good plan :-)

I hope to receive mine within a month from now ...

For write-speed, the consensus (based on Pentax info) is
that 133x or 150x cards should be fast enough for the K10D.
Less than 80x would most likely slow the camera down ...

Personally I use Sandisk (Extreme III) but there are others,
probably cheaper ones like the Trancend 150x that are
well regarded as well.

Main recommendation here is to WAIT as long as possible
and NOT buy these in advance since prices keep on
falling for these things :-)

For the infrared remote, any made by Pentax will do.
I have one I got with one of the Espio (film) cameras
long ago, and that works just fine with the *istD.
(and K10D should work too)

For a cable release (electronic) there is one from Pentax I think,
but the one made for the Canon DSLRs (like 350D and 10D is
easier to find and much cheaper. According to many on the
DPReview forum it works very well with the Pentax DSLRs too.

>and spare battery would also be much appreciated.

The Pentax designation is DL-I50, and it is rather pricey
I think (over 50 dollars).

Very strong rumours indicate that the (Minolta) NP400 is
compatible with it. I have seen 3rd party replacements for
that one in many camera stores.

There is some variation in capacity, the one I saw recently
was just 1500 mAh, while otheres seem to be 1700 ...

I think it is not 100% sure yet if these are 100% compatible,
they seem to work in the camera but may require a
different loader than the Pentax. Too early to tell ...

Regards, JvW
