Especially those of us who came from the *istD, the compression of PEF files is a welcome addition. I just shot a 1 gb card full in a normal family portrait shoot and got 92 images. On my *istD I usually get closer to 71 images. So even though the pixel count is higher, the storage requirements are just a little lower than I am used to.
