For SR to work with longer lenses (300-600mm) at reasonable close- focus distances you need approximately 5mm movement off the static null point (total of about 10mm horizontal and vertical movement). This is validated by both Minolta and Pentax in-body shake reduction designs, and far far more than 2-3 pixels.
