A couple of years ago, I was asked to do a multi exposure stitch of a map 
that had been emailed from somewhere in eastern Europe.
It was a nightmare. I don't recall exactly how many exposures the 
photographer had done, close to two dozen, and nothing lined up without 
extensive transforming.
