There are already full frame digital SLR
cameras on the market today, so I dont
understand how you can say it wont
happen anytime soon based on economics.
I am not saying ALL digital SLRS will
go full frame eventually, I am saying
that I feel eventually all the camera
makers will be offering them in top
line models because the improvements
in APS/da are only going go so far and
the appeal of better image quality is
never going to go away.

        Semiconductors (i.e. sensors) get MUCH more expensive to produce

than the simple increase in area they occupy.  Something like 10x-100x
to 
produce FF as opposed to APS-sized IIRC.  That part of semiconductor 
manufacturing hasn't changed appreciably in 30-40 years, so it doesn't 
seem likely to happen anytime soon.
