FWIW, when I designed a voltage regulator a couple of weeks ago so I could run my istDS off of a 9.6VDC NIMH battery pack, I found the flash is the main power hog, and the LCD is the second most power hog. Not news I guess, but if you want the longest possible life on a single battery charge, these have to be minimized in usage or better yet turned off. jco
