Unfortunately the sound is a function of the design and components. It is possible to eliminate but at far more expense than any flash manufacturer is prepared to go to given that it's rarely a problem. The flash utilizes a high frequency low voltage oscillator which feeds into a transformer that is designed to step up the voltage required for the flash discharge tube. The little transformer is the main source of the noise. http://repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu/sam/strbfaq.htm -- Rob Studdert HURSTVILLE AUSTRALIA Tel +61-2-9554-4110 UTC(GMT) +10 Hours [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://picasaweb.google.com/distudio/PESO http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~distudio//publications/ Pentax user since 1986, PDMLer since 1998 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
