Any quality tripod and head should last at least 10-15 years with just simple cleaning. I had the previous 3265 and Bogen 3221 legs for a decade, sold them when I upgraded to a friend in Alaska who is still using them today, 8 years later.
The Acratech ballheads are extremely good quality as well as lightweight and precise. That $320 is a very solid investment, should be worth 20 years worth of use.
