Any quality tripod and head should last at least 10-15 years with  
just simple cleaning. I had the previous 3265 and Bogen 3221 legs for  
a decade, sold them when I upgraded to a friend in Alaska who is  
still using them today, 8 years later.

The Acratech ballheads are extremely good quality as well as  
lightweight and precise. That $320 is a very solid investment, should  
be worth 20 years worth of use.
