You may be right - what I have seen lately is similar. Dramatic landscapes or major wildlife (600/4 territory) seem to dominate these days. People, slice of life and such don't seem to do very well. My hit rate these days is down to about 1 in 30 - even though I have two in the collection and 53 in the gallery.
