If it happens with manual and autofocus it has to be either the mirror box or the lens. Pentax probably checked only the autofocus. You have to tell them it's NOT an autofocus problem. That's the kind of service they customarily have to provide, so if you don't make it clear that you have a different problem, that's where they'll go.
