The same can be said of APS sensor DSLRs.

First, the 16x24 and 15x21 mm sensor cameras that are referred to as APS sensors are not APS dimension formats. They're close but no cigar. Second, these SLR cameras were designed to use existing lens systems originally designed for 35mm film format, a compromise to get 35mm based lens systems in the hands of users some continued life at a reasonable cost in the body and a reduction in cost on lens development for the manufacturer.

So in eliding the

portion of the original statement, you change the meaning of the statement entirely. Olympus' 4/3 System specification, bodies and lenses have no relation to previously designed 35mm film format or lenses. They are their own format, designed from scratch to be what they are.

Something about 'revisionist history' could be said here.
