We don't get those here, either.  That was one of the surprises when we
moved from New England to California - there were practically no bugs.

Of course we do have other concerns - earthquakes, fires, politicians,
and a state that's going broke.  But the weather's nice.  And if you
do want snow there's plenty you can visit in Tahoe - it just doesn't
camp out in your driveway for months at a time.
