repeat model names is not good whether the old ones are still in production or not. Should they come out with another *istD in 2010 just because the old one is discontinued? nah....

I don't think they're still making the KM, so I doubt there's that much confusion. In fact, I doubt most purchasers of the K-M would even know there once was a model KM, although it may be Pentax chose a deliberate play on the name of one of their earlier successes.
