Did you upgrade direct from v1.x to v2.3, or from some intermediate
version of 2.x? I found most of my export and many of my printing
templates had to be 'fixed up' between v1.x and v2.0, but not since.
The transitions from 2.0 to 2.1, 2.2 and then 2.3 worked without any
problems at all.
(Another thing to be aware of is that between v1.x and v2.x, they
added some new things to the keyword functions ... and the catalog
conversion to v2.x made keywords not export in a lot of cases. Adobe's
released a script which fixes that issue.)
If your hardware can support 2G, I would strongly suggest upgrading it
to that. 13G disk free space isn't too bad if you're on an 80G drive,
but you're getting close to the limit for good performance and with a
larger drive you are already past what I consider to be reasonable
free space. I upgraded my PowerBook to a 250G drive and it works far
better now.

I did a drag and drop this morning and it let me do a proper import
window. Something must have happened and a lot of my presets, for want
of a better phrase had changed. I set them up as previous and the drop
and drag worked.
Not sure what happened, but i;'m keeping and eye on it next time i
import something, just to make sure.
All this happened after loading 2.3.??

David,
How much RAM is installed in your computer?
How much free disk space is available on your startup disk?
Adobe's done some memory management cleanup in LR2 v2.3, but there
still
seem to be some issues. On Mac OS X, the majority of these issues
are due to
running in too little RAM and having too little free disk space on
the
working startup drive.
Most of the LR2 issues I've seen from other people have been solved
by
expanding RAM to more than 1G and/or upgrading the hard drive to a
larger
capacity so that there's more working space for LR to operate in.
