I have a 60 gig HD on the ibook. Is it worth upgrading this G4.??
i know Macs, don't know Lightroom (using Aperture, but haven't
learned it in depth yet (lots of early 90s Photoshop experience
though))
having 13GB free disk space is plenty; there is no problem there
as far as operation of any applications; that is assuming you are
running Mac OS X 10.4 or above, which automatically defragments
drives
you don't say which G4 iBook you have; probably 1GHz or above if
it came with that drive; go to <http://www.everymac.com/> to find
and learn about your model; i note the very last iBook model had
a 1.5GB RAM limit, which is pretty sorry for stuff like
Lightroom; still, if you can do it, it won't cost much and it
will help some
your machine almost certainly has a slower (4200 RPM) drive; you
don't seem to need more disk space, but if you combine the
attractions of more space _and_ a little more speed, it might be
worth it to get a new 160 GB 5400 RPM drive for $60-70 e.g.

(standard disclaimer)
be sure to factor your time into the value proposition; overall,
for managing and editing photos the iBooks don't have the
processor nor the screen quality to be worth investing much; if
you're considering a budget upgrade, other than used machines i'd
suggest the latest plastic MacBook, 4GB 3rd-party RAM, plus a
decent external display ...huge difference in performance
(previous versions of plastic MacBook had very lame graphics --
don't bother unless you can find one for $400 used)
