Well, I'm still exited.
The lens we'll see in near future (hopefully next week) is actually not the same that was announced about 3 years ago. Both optically and mechanically. Why i do believe so? I asked (privately) about future of DA*60-250 in Dubai, January 2008. The answer was pretty much that the existing design was completely abandoned in favor of heavily updated one. Developers wanted it to be really stellar performer, but an old design couldn't fulfill their hopes. We all know how much all those fast computing methods and special glass technologies have changed our wide-angle lenses during the last decade. At the same time tele-zooms, even the very best ones, still rely on much older technologies. I really hope DA*60-250 represents the beginning of modern tele-zoom era - and that's exactly what makes me excited.

I waited for so long for this lens for the horse shows, now its not
really needed, and kept putting off the 50-135, which is now more
useful but more expensive.

I'll see what happens over the next few months, but at this point, I am just not excited by this lens any more. it's been too long in coming, long enough that I have found a couple of more primes within the range instead. I'm more interested in a new camera body than a new lens at the moment.
