1/180 will freeze most sports action, while allowing enough motion blur to show a dramatic effect. The motion blur would occur is things such as the head of a baseball bat in mid-swing, or a baseball in flight.
For years, sports photographers used 1/125 as their default shutter speed for action shots. So experiment once with 1/125, 1/180, and faster shutter speeds, and the results should be predictable from then on, assuming the flash can reharge fully between shots. I'd be more likely to invest in a Quantum battery for the flash than a more powerful flash at this time. If the flash has enough power to do the job at all, then getting faster recharge times is the next priority. -- John Mustarde www.photolin.com - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
