Late last night, I took my jammed inoperable 16-45 in hand, and reasoned: If landing on its front end broke it, what would happen if I tightly gripped the front and pulled? Nothing to lose.
So I did. There was a "clunk" on the second firm pull, and everything works. It focuses. It zooms. The images are sharp. Whew.
