One or two layers of scotch tape works to tighten up the fit of the
newer bayonet-style hoods.
Grumble. I prefer screw-on like they had in the good old days!

Jack,
I have the hood from the 24-90; but the little bumps on the 16-45
that lock the hood on are too worn to hold. I'm thinking about
using a couple of drops of epoxy to build them up a little.
Actually, I'm not even sure how much of a difference the hood
makes, except as protection.

I understood from your initial post that the hood 'gave

Do you have a usable hood? Just curious.

Late last night, I took my jammed inoperable 16-45 in
hand,
and reasoned: If landing on its front end broke it,
what
would happen if I tightly gripped the front and
pulled?
Nothing to lose.
So I did. There was a "clunk" on the second
firm
pull, and everything works. It focuses. It zooms.
The
images are sharp.
Whew.
