Thanks Tim I have no problem with the 1.5x IQ it's just it limits me to manual focus, I may as well buy a manual focus 400mm f/5.6 and have the added benefit of SR.

It's locks fast, sometimes faster than the DA* 300 alone. I was refering to image quality when saying it didn't seem tp like other lenses. But fringing or abrivation or whatever it is, is unaceptable. steping down at least two steps, more in high contrast situations is needed In good light it locks with the K-500/4,5 on motifs with good contrast. But IQ wise the combo is practically useless. Won't focus with Tokina ATX 150-500/5,6. So I believe the real limit is around f:4,5 with high contrast lenses. Could be wrong off cource. -- MaritmTim 2009/5/11 John Whittingham <jo...@carmel.ac.uk>: > Hi Tim > > I'm having troubles with the DA*300/4, whenerver I fit a Kenko 1.5x SHQ > converter to the rear it hunts just either side of the subject constantly but > never locks focus.
