So, as has been pointed out, someone broke their non-disclosure agreement
and posted the news about the new Pentax K-X online.

But the NDA officially expired at midnight, so...

A few hours ago, Pentax put on a big press-conference/party at the
International Center of Photography in New York
(http://www.robertstech.com/blog/photos/gallery14/icp.html). Part of the
presentation was about the new camera (which is pretty amazing: 12MP, HD
Video, 4.7 fps, etc. for $650 with kit lens) but there was a lot more on
the relationship with Hoya, their coming marketing push and more. I'll
post more about this stuff tomorrow.

I met with John Carlson, director of marketing, whom many of us met at GFM
this year. I also got to meet Ned Bunnell
(http://www.robertstech.com/temp/ned_2.jpg), who was very enthusiastic and
supportive of the PDML Book. Both he and John Carlson were quite
interested in the gallery exhibit that will accompany next year's edition.
(BTW: Rick Womer has made some connections with helpful people at
CureSearch who will be spreading the word about the book more in the near
future.)

The new K-X probably won't excite the hard-core PDML people, but it looks
like it will be a big seller for Pentax, and the press and dealer
representatives present seemed genuinely excited about it. Many will scoff
at the availability of multiple colors (after the big success of the white
K-2000, the K-X will come in black, white, navy blue and red), but if it
brings in new users to Pentax it will be good for all of us in the long
run.

More in the morning.
