Did you read the Wikipedia def that Scott referenced?

I figure the key point is made here:

"Vernacular photographs are types of accidental art, in that they often are unintentionally artistic."

Or you could opt for the OED def:

"concerned with ordinary domestic and functional buildings rather than the essentially monumental."

So rummage through those snapshots. :-)
