Our experience with dogs was limited to 1 pure bred Malamute - Bear - who lived for 13 years. At around 105 lbs he was considered a big dog. The attending vet thought he was old for his breed.

I've owned 6 male & female Malamutes in the past 35 years, usually two at a time, alternately overlapping. All but one lived to be 13 + years old.

One female wandered out of the yard when she was 12 and could hardly get around. She plodded out into the street and committed suicide, I like to think. Of the others, only one had to be put down. The others all died with a howl, a long yell and a whimper. Either heart attacks or brain aneurisms according to vets that knew us.

The one that had to be put down had become unbalanced by a huge (probably) benign growth one one side, and (I surmise - was not there) fell down a flight of stairs and hurt his back or neck bad enough that he couldn't get up without someone lifting his rear end up and allowing him to steady himself. He'd plop back down after a few steps.

All were loving and loved animals.

As are the two I have now, a 3.5 yr Canaan Dog, and a 2 yr mixed breed who looks like a small Canaan. I expect them to have long lives, being close to pariah dogs.
