Yeah, after everybody's great suggestions I've been doing some more research, and I've pretty much settled on the 12-24/f4, my only concern is I'd like it to be a little faster, and that is why I am also considering the 14mm/f2.8, but I think that the zoom and the 2mm wider coverage makes the 12-24 much more versatile for my purposes.
Thus far, the cheapest option I have found for either of these lenses is from here: 14/2.8 (about aud$620 inc shipping!) - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310201808202&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWAX:IT (Has anyone had any dealings with this mob?) 12-24/4 (add to cart to get the cheaper price of usd$699 plus about usd$70 for shipping) - http://www.adorama.com/PX1224AFD.html Right now, price alone has the 14mm slightly in the lead. Oh, how I'd loooooove the 12-24 second-hand if anyone knows somebody selling one! ;-) John, thanks so much for the offer of the loaner, but do you remember I am a bit funny about that - especially now that I have 5 kids in my house. Bad things happen to stuff in my house, and I couldn't live with myself (or afford to replace!) if something that wasn't mine became the victim of one of my ferals! ;-) Oh, also, somebody mentioned the Sigma 20/1.8. I had definitely considered it but read a few reviews that said it was very, very soft in the lower numbered apertures. Any feedback on this? It really isn't wide enough for what I need but it might be handy to add to my kit later on, simply for the faster speed, if I can see that it is usable wide open. Lastly -the fisheye isn't something that I want for my interiors - just a "toy" that I am considering adding to my bag later down the track. I just added it to my initial post as it was kind of relevant to the wide angle discussion. Great discussion guys, I can always count on you lot! :) Tan. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of William Robb Sent: Saturday, 27 February 2010 5:07 AM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Re: best wide angle - for shooting interiors? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bruce Dayton" Subject: Re: best wide angle - for shooting interiors? > Both excellent shots, Paul. Boy do I want me one of those 12-24's - > That is certainly the biggest hole in my lens line up at the moment. > It looks like a great lens. I'm quite fond of mine. Mine get a lot of use when I am doing before and after pictures of renovations. It's sharp wide open, has ample DOF even at f/4 and controls flare very well.
