I love johnny cake!!!
But our version is different to yours. It's more like a savoury cake
than a pancake.
And the version in the southern U.S. is baked more like a single layer
of a layer cake.
Still derives from the African recipe. But I don't think the Africans
had maize until they got to the U.S.
