i blame Clinton for the latest recession; it was he who scuttled
Glass-Steagal

He was also the last President you've had who could actually speak
knowledgably without a teleprompter

i think Obama (while i never trusted him, and his legacy is hardly settled) is about as good a speaker as Clinton; he's lost some fire since the campaign, but he's still a very sharp and in-the-moment speaker

Especially when he's on the teleprompter.

A lot of the recession was caused by people who just didn't think things
through when they were taking out those subprime mortgages.

leaving aside the sociodynamics of mortgage hucksterism, and the financial education that almost no one in the US receives, it is the bankers -- the professionals at risk management -- who didn't evaluate the risk properly ... they sold riskier and riskier loans as they invented cleverer ways to ignore the risk; Clinton merely turned them loose

Whether this was allowed by something that was done 10 years prior or
not, you had a president who showed that he was completely lacking in
brains [...] good old fashioned greed[...] war of revenge [...]

i've got no lack of things to blame on Bush-sub-2, Bush-sub-1 nor Reagan; holding my breath for just how bad Obama might be

Not to mention that selling off your industrial might to China was
probably not the smartest thing to do in the long haul,

blame for that can be spread a bit, but Clinton had an important part

I don't think you can blame your recession on one man doing one thing

the point is that Clinton's economic policies were bad enough that i gag when someone writes "he's the best president you've had ..."
