   Hi Ann,

That was very kind of you to offer. But, there's a chance it may not be necessary. I've been manipulating the focusing ring, and have tried it out on the camera, and it still seems capable of achieving focus. It's loosened up on the short end and is operating smoothly up until about 6', where the movement seems to tighten up just a tad. I'll need to do more testing with it, but for now, it just seems to have a little extra friction at the long end.

Wish me luck, though. I was absolutely crestfallen to think it was ruined. I'd already fallen in love with the lens before I'd even set up a "real" shot with it.

Again, I do appreciate the gesture, and I thank you. But, I may just be lucky this time.

Good to hear... hope you are lucky - my funky one will be here in an emergency :-)

Thing is, relatively speaking, it might as well have been a $1000 lens.

Boy, I know that feeling!

Walter, I have a cosmetically terrible but perfectly functional f 1.4 M... I use it for a loupe but I can always use my prettier one... If you want. I'll lend you crappy one until you can manage to replace or repair... Write me off list.

All I'd ask is that you pay the postage for me to get it to you ...

A life lesson that all photographers must complete. Be thankful you did it with a $50 lens rather than a $1000 lens. Security of your equipment is job number one.

My cat just knocked it and my K-x off the top of a dresser, onto the floor. Fortunately, the camera still seems to be working. But now, the focusing ring on the lens sticks at the far and near end.

Goddammit.
